On May, 17 2008, Europe’s biggest and most spectacular AIDS-charity event took place at Vienna’s magnificent City Hall. The 16th Life Ball themed “Love is Infinite. Life is Universal” inviting guests on a journey through the galaxies with countless highlights. Every year Life Ball brings together national and international artists to celebrate and to raise people’s awareness of HIV and AIDS and to support those who are affected.
In 2008, a gigantic Red Ribbon-shaped stage transformed the Vienna City Hall square. The unique opening ceremony took guests to a parallel universe as they “Landed on Planet Life Ball”. In the intergalactic centre of the Red Ribbon stage floated a UFO especially designed for the Life Ball: it had a diameter of 11m and weighed 3 tons including motors, chains and lamps inside.
